3ds Max: V-Ray
The video capture with narration below goes through the entire process of setting up 3ds Max for a V-Ray render from file linked *fbx geometry. Zac goes though applying materials, artificial lighting, and render settings to produce the following image.
This video is part of a white paper I coauthored for the RTC conference in Sydney earlier this year. This paper goes through the process of rendering in Revit through to 3ds Max where we render the same geometry using both mental ray and V-Ray. Looking at the vray image, I’d guess you forgot to check “affect shadows” in the windows’ material, so the sun is actually not present in the illumination, hence the image looks worse than the MR image
I have just uploaded the video, datasets will also be available soon.
Great, good to hear and thanks for the quick reply. Appreciate it
I am glad you found the mentalray tutorial helpful. The V-Ray tutorial should be uploaded next week as soon as my colleague Zac who is authoring and narrating the V-Ray video gets better.
Any idea on when this video is coming? Loved the video on mr it helped a lot, interested in moving towards V-Ray though for the upcoming school year. Thanks
